During the month of July our staff assisted a regular client by the name of “Laura”. Laura is a single mother of three beautiful children. The father of Laura’s children is in prison for domestic violence against Laura and their children. Laura first cam e to ELAPC in 2011 after a friend recommended our services to her. The main reason for visiting our center was to be assisted with counseling and support; she had a miscarriage and needed support to heal from her loss.
ELAPC provided Laura with the support she needed to know she was not alone. Laura is currently being assisted by our community partner ELWAC, The East Los Angeles Women’s Center. She now has a safe place to live in an environment of safety, health, and personal well-being, free from violence and abuse. Laura is also attending school at East Los Angeles College. She has been visiting our center regularly, participating in our Material Assistance Program and Parenting Classes. We are proud of the woman she is becoming and the better future she is providing her children.
July has been a month filled with great moments at ELAPC. During this month, our counselors welcomed the new group of parents that are currently enrolling on to our Material Assistance Program. Our Material Assistance Program provides parents with necessary materials such as diapers, wipes and baby clothes. As recipients of the material assistance our clients attend bi-monthly parenting classes that teach life skills and self sufficiency.
